Manta — Open Source

Last updated: 5 July 2026

Manta is built with open-source software. This page lists every third-party component distributed in the App, the exact version used, its licence, and a link to its upstream source, and it states the written offer for corresponding source required by the GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL). The full licence texts are also provided inside the App under Settings → Legal → Open-Source Licenses.

Licence summary

The App's media engine is provided by MPVKit, which distributes libmpv, FFmpeg and the supporting native libraries below together under the GNU Lesser General Public License, version 3.0 (LGPL v3.0). Several bundled libraries additionally carry their own permissive licences (MIT, ISC, BSD, the FreeType License, zlib and Apache-2.0). Manta uses the LGPL MPVKit product and does not incorporate any GPL-licensed component (it never uses the MPVKit-GPL build).

Written offer for corresponding source (LGPL)

For a period of three (3) years from the date you obtained the App, Hasijew Applications will provide, on request and at no more than our cost of physically performing distribution, the complete corresponding source code for the LGPL-licensed components distributed in the App, together with the exact version information and the scripts used to build and install them. Requests: [email protected]. The same source is publicly available at the upstream links below and via the MPVKit build repository.

Media engine — MPVKit (LGPL v3.0)

Pinned version 0.41.0-n8.1.2 — github.com/mpvkit/MPVKit @ 0.41.0-n8.1.2. MPVKit builds the libraries below from source with its checked-in build scripts (Makefile, mpv.sh and the per-library build repositories). FFmpeg is configured for the LGPL build (--enable-lgpl, without --enable-gpl). MPVKit distributes the resulting bundle under the LGPL v3.0.

The exact version of each library above is the version bundled by MPVKit 0.41.0-n8.1.2; the precise revisions and build configuration are recorded in that tag's build scripts and the linked per-library build repositories.
